Flexing my 2019 Book Muscles
Yes!!! We made it to the end of 2019. How did the reading go? I had a goal of 50 books...and then I kept fighting with myself if I truly made it or not. I kept debating whether a 'novella' counts as a book or not. My answer: Only if it is over 150 pages. Also I was debating whether a graphic novel counted as a book. For my answer see above. Anyway after much deliberation I made it to 54 books!
Here are the stats:
Book series read: 10
Graphic Novels: 4
Classic Books: 2
According to my bff app Goodreads that is approximately 21,587 pages
The rest are a miscellenous conglomerate of a philosophy book, nonfiction, mystery, Gonzo journalism, and lots of YA reading. YA is my vice.
For 2020 I have a clear vision (mission accomplished of adding that pun in). My vision is to try and contribute more to my writing! I really wanted to create a blog to express my thoughts and tantrums on reading and notes I have as a reader and I have not emulated that as much as I would hope.
My reading goal for next year will be 40 books. I currently participate in a book club through my work. I will continue that and then explore some more book series. I have never ready the Lord of the Rings series (which I will call LOTR from now on like all the cool kids). I am inspired to read this from my co worker Raphael (whatup Raphael!). He re-read this (okay he listens to it on audible) each year. It is his favorite book series. I have to tell you I admire that and am inspired to see what it is all about. After we finish the series I am going to have us read a short story by J.R.R. Tolkien called 'Leaf by Niggle.' It is a pretty near story that I do not believe a lot of Tolkin fans know. Hey what a great 2020 blog topic!
I want to include a photo of some of the books I read this year. My favorite books were my sappy romantic comedy YA books. I get most of my books from the library. I wanted to point out the awesome bookmarks my husband made me. I love them! Designed via photoship and with a laminated finish they are the perfect inspiration for my reading goals...especially when I actually have a bookmark that says 'LEAVE ME ALONE I HAVEN'T MET MY READING GOAL.'
Happy New Year Friends!
